The project is situated in an area of Lyon deprived of leisure-oriented spaces and relatively far from the large parks of the city.
The Clos-Layat park redresses the demand for a public park, providing a space dedicated to the discovery of nature and outdoor activities, an oasis of freshness in the neighborhood, an ecological staging post at a metropolitan scale. Surrounded by a high outer wall and lines of plane trees, this 3 hectare site is the last piece of the historical estate of the Saint-Jean de Dieu hospital.
The expansion of the hospital’s private wooded park offers an opportunity to develop an open space (with a large leisure lawn and space for outdoor games) beside a woodland (with a promenade, picnic spots, wildlife observation posts…) surrounded by a border of trees. This classic and simple repartition of the park provides a rich variety of shadowy and light spaces.
The park has many different possible uses : a green theater and sun terraces facing the football fields, a 500 m2 playground… The Misty Playground is divided into two parts, a mist pool and a tree trunk forest with a suspended equilibrium path. The park also has fitness and picnic areas.
