The area has real potential; it has become the second polarity of the city thanks to the presence of shops and several facilities.

Some large scale buildings “barres” have been demolished and social housing construction and home ownership projects have already been completed. New commercial spaces will eventually accommodate local businesses, replacing the current dilapidated shopping center which will be demolished.

The public space project is carried out in 3 stages: Avenue du Forez has been completely redesigned so that residents benefit from a blooming urban space planted with large street trees and bordered by the “chemin des Ecoles” used everyday by children on their way to school. The Forez park makes up more than one hectare and the design plays off the strong topography of the site, providing terraced spaces for the local residents with views opening onto the landscape of the Gier valley. A new playground, small squares for playing pétanque, benches and deckchairs for sunbathing are all features of the park that help create a harmonious and peaceful neighbourhood life. Lastly the Place du Forez will be a renewed central space with shops, meeting places and a parking area for people passing through.
