With the developments to come in the Canal-Porte d’Aubervilliers concerted development zone (ZAC), the Condorcet campus project, the redesign of the Porte d’Aubervilliers and the arrival of the tramway, the area will undergo significant mutation and mature in the years to come.

Biodiversity

Creating multiple layers of vegetation enhances biodiversity; the more diversity of habitats, the more flora and fauna. The development of green roofs on various levels favours the circulation of fauna, in particular pollinators, which stay close to the soil and the flowers. The insects and birds obtain fruits, seeds and nectar from the plants.

Insulation

The complex of vegetation allows for the improvement of thermal and acoustic insulation of the building, entailing a respective lowering of energy consumption and a reduction of noise pollution.

Rainwater retention

A number of studies carried out to understand the rainwater holding capacity of the green roofs.

Reduction of heat islands

Thanks to the green roofs, the surrounding air is refreshed and humidified through evapotranspiration and evaporation. The vegetation contributes therefore to the battle against the phenomenon of heat islands.
