The Ascent of the Volcano playground reflects the image of the ‘Piton de la Fournaise’ volcano on Réunion island .
It is an unpredictable sight, covered in reddish, orange and grey tones. From the top of this fiery mountain, the children hurtle down the slope like a lava flow. A tower evokes the crater and the artificial topography echoes the landscape molded by volcanic activity.
This project is found in the Volcano park, an important touristic site on the island that brings value to the higher territories. This open air space, available to all, has a program developed specifically for children (with slides, chutes, climbing play, trampolines…) It sits in a oasis of native species, highlighted by the ancient tamarind trees.
